We had a 9 hour flight from Seattle to London where Miles had to be changed 4 times and then threw up all over me. After he threw up he slept for an hour. So that was one hour in 24. Then we forgot to take the two carry-ons we had put in the overhead bins out of the plane with us. So we remembered while we were standing in a line (I'm not quite sure what the purpose of that line was) and Eric went off to try to track those down. I took the kids through security and then to the next gate and they were all worrying if Dad would make it to us in time to catch the next flight. He did.
Two more hours to Munich. Eric sat with Miles this time and Miles slept the whole time. (Oh man!) Then we picked up our 21 pieces of checked luggage and took them out on 6 carts to the two van-taxis that were waiting for us in addition to Eric's brother, Ryan. Ryan took Lizzie, Miles and me while Eric, the kids and the luggage went with the van-taxis. We got checked in to our hotel, had showers, and ate lots of delicious fresh food sent by my sister-in-law, Tracie. What a blessing that was! And then Ryan took Rand and Miles home with him to Stuttgart for two days. Ryan and Tracie and their kids will bring our kids back on Friday night and hang out with us at our house/apartment where we should be encamped.
I hope we can all sleep tonight so we can go out tomorrow and explore.
So as I was leaving my house to get into Irene Nixon's van with all our luggage I started to feel that sick, butterfly-stomach feeling thinking about how we wouldn't be back for 2-3 years. Kris Sather let us come over twice that last day (yesterday) to print things like boarding passes because our printer was shipped. Shelly Loveless and her kids came over to say good-bye. I have a feeling we will really miss our friends and our home and our familiar things and places.
I did take a couple of pictures and Eric took some great ones, but I can't find the cable to download them to my computer. Later!
